Commencement of the Foxford, Charlestown & Killala Sewerage Scheme

Glan Agua, along with sister company MEIC, are progressing with the design and construction of three waste water treatment plants as part of the Foxford, Charlestown & Killala Sewerage Scheme Bundle. The commencement of this project was marked with a recent sod-turning at the Foxford site on the 30th November 2018.

This contract includes the design, construction, commissioning, testing and operation of three waste water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 8,700 PE as well as provisions for future expansion. This contract is part of Irish Water’s €5.5bn investment plan to 2021 which represents significant improvements in water and waste water infrastructure across the country. This project will result in improved waste water effluent discharges in all three towns and ensure an improved quality of bathing waters for these communities.

The upgraded plants will consist of site specific waste water treatment processes designed to cater for catchment loadings and meeting specific receiving water discharge limits. Works on these schemes include the upgrading of collection networks, pumping stations as well as the installation of new treatment processes.

The award of this bundled contract represents Glan Agua’s continued success in the waste water treatment sector. Glan Agua look forward to working closely with Irish Water, Mayo County Council & Ryan Hanley to achieve the common goals of the project.
