Glan Agua Ltd have completed the Contract for the Ballyconnell Water Supply Scheme Contract No. 1 – Water Treatment Plant, Rising Main & Reservoirs. The contract included the design, build works, operations and maintenance of a new water treatment plant for the town of Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan.
The award of this project represents the continued success and growth of Glan Agua Ltd in the design, construction and operation and maintenance of modern water treatment infrastructure, and compliance with the most up to date water treatment legislation and guidance notes. The Client’s team is led by Cavan County Council, with Employers Representative Jennings O’Donovan and JB Barry and Partners.
The design stage involved the development of works facilities to abstract water from source production wells, protect the source abstraction, design of new water treatment facility, pump raw water to the treatment plant, high lift pump of treated water to remote reservoirs via rising main and distribute through new section of trunk distribution main. The new water treatment plant was designed to the highest standards and includes a new state of the art facility at Cuillaghan capable of treating 1,220 m/day, where treated water will be pumped to 2 number treated water reservoirs at Mullaghduff. The Contract involves the operation and maintenance of the existing infrastructure and the newly constructed water treatment plant and ancillary equipment.
Ballyconnell Water Treatment Plant was officially opened by Minister Phil Hogan and CEO of Irish Water, John Tierney on Friday, 7th March 2014.
