Castlemaine Wastewater Treatment Plant

Glan Agua completed the first Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Framework project at Castlemaine Wastewater Treatment Plant on behalf of Irish Water and Kerry County Council. The project ended the discharge of poorly treated effluent to the River Maine and facilitate growth and development of the area.

What was involved

  • Build a new wastewater treatment plant to serve a population of up to 750 people
  • Build a new pumping station with storm water storage
  • Replace over 660m of sewer pipe
  • Build a new inlet pumping station and storm water storage at the outfall to the River Maine
  • Install pumping and a refurbished header manhole at the outfall to the River Maine
