Glan Agua was delighted to host our first ‘Water Sustainability Challenge’ in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering at TU Dublin (formerly known as DIT).
The Water Sustainability Challenge was set up to raise awareness of the water and wastewater sector and highlight the vast career opportunities there are available for a wide range of engineering and business disciplines.
The students, who included first and second-year engineering, were tasked with a challenge to identify practical solutions to improve the protection of water sources and to raise public awareness of how our water sources can be protected.
Students were divided into groups to research their challenge before sharing their presentation to a panel of judges with highly experienced backgrounds in industry, public sector and academia including Andrew Young, Glan Agua, John Hynes, Irish Water and Professor David Kennedy, TU Dublin.
Andrew Young, Operations Director, Glan Agua said “The water sector is a very rewarding sector and we want to raise more awareness of the opportunities there are for engineering students to contribute to a sustainable future. The Glan Agua Water Sustainability Challenge was a great success and I would like to congratulate all of the students for their fantastic work. The passion and enthusiasm demonstrated on the day was truly inspiring and I’m confident they have a bright future ahead of them.”
