Merck Millipore is a Pharmaceutical company based in Co Cork, which specialise in the manufacturing of medical device equipment.
Glan Agua Ltd have been awarded the Design Build Contract for the WWTP Compliance and Capacity Upgrade. Glan Agua Ltd, in association with their sister company MEIC Ltd, will undertake the process, M&E and civil design for the wastewater treatment plant upgrade.
The Merck Millipore Plant in Cork is one of the most advanced plants in the pharmaceutical sector in Europe. The contract involves an upgrade of the existing effluent treatment works to treat the additional loading due to increased manufacturing at the Cork facility. The upgraded effluent treatment plant is designed to include an extended aeration activated sludge plant complete with sludge dewatering and odor containment/treatment. The contract has a 15 month duration, and prior to contract completion the WWTW will be commissioned and tested to ensure that effluent standards are in line with the revised EPA licensing requirements.
The contract starts in April 2012 and will finish in July 2013.
All civil works will be carried out by MEIC (Mota Engil Ireland Construction), Glan Agua’s civil sister company in Ireland. Being capable of the successful award of a private client, due to the quality of the tender submission and technical solutions for one of the most advance pharmaceutical plants in Europe, reaffirms Glan Agua Ltd?s position in the Irish water infrastructure market.
